Newsong has come up with three questions that help us seek for answers that can guide our lives

Can anything good come out of Nazareth? John 1:45,46

“Philip went and found Nathanael and told him, "We've found the One Moses wrote of in the Law, the One preached by the prophets. It's Jesus, Joseph's son, the one from Nazareth!" Nathanael said, "Nazareth? You've got to be kidding."  But Philip said, "Come, see for yourself."  

Nathanael sees all the enthusiasm that Philip had for this new leader-guy that he just met. Philip says “We found the guy that Moses and the prophets talked about, the one!” But as soon as Nathanael hears the words, “And He’s from Nazareth,” he responds with a snooty sarcastic judgment in a form of a question, “From ‘no-good-Nazareth’? You have got to be kidding me!” 

What do Nathanael’s words say about this place called Nazareth?  

• If there was a list of the ten worst cities to live in Israel, Nazareth would be tops for the worst place to live.
• It was an obscure and dry place where it was nice about 2 months of the year. You didn’t stop here for an overnighter.
• People there spoke with an accent that was belittled by the rest of the population.
• People from there were marginalized as second-class Jews and called Galileans’

NewSong is one church that meets in different locations! California, Mexico, London and Bangkok in Thailand! Though we may be separated many miles apart, NewSong shares the common ground in that we believe, regardless of where we live, we are all misfits called to embrace the third culture. This third culture is our desire to develop people who feel they are not just citizens of one country but the world. Third culture people have the ability to weave in and out of multiple cultures.

NewSong is far from a perfect church. Our common ground is our weakness. Yet, in spite of our weaknesses we've discovered the liberating favor of Jesus who says His grace is made perfect in our weakness.

So what is NewSong like? We're serious about embracing this ideal of reconciliation as it deals with God and humankind. We're also passionate about addressing the local and global concerns of justice, advocacy and the poor. We feel it is our responsibility to help lead a renaissance of community transformation among the under resourced. Moreover, the arts and beauty are important to us. Diversity is not just about being politically correct. To us it's about reflecting the very heart of God.

Peter Dewit: Peterwonders joyfully how the heck he got to this NewSong place! He is zany with a serious nature. Having a little brother whogot taller was a challenge, maybe that's why he is so competitive! Heloves golf, jazz music and his wife and five kids, not quite in thatorder! Lifting weights is a hobby, light on the mind (de-stress) andheavy on the bod...(Young forever!) Give Peter a nice sandy beach and asunset to relax by and he's almost in his perfect world! But if youwant to bless Peter invite him for a tender "medium rare" steak dinnerand he'll be really pleased. This dutchborn Canadian wants nothing moreto live in Southern California when he is 60 and learn how to surf!

Yo:He was born and brought up in Bangkok. He is crazy forfootball…”soccer”….which makes him even crazier for winning11. He makesthe best coffee at the Newsong café where he gets to connect with a lotof youngsters so anytime you’ll find him there.
He Loves to eat and eat and eat…..best time to eat is 2:00am.

 In short he says Newsong is my home.
