At NewSong, we love to party. If I had to choose one verb to sum up
NewSong Bangkok, it would be "CELEBRATE". That's why we love
getting together- it's fun! We believe it's actually ok to go to church
and not be bored.
NewSong Bangkok is committed to C4: Christ, Community, Cause and Celebration.
Because of this we have specifically responded to what we believe are forms
that may connect with those in Thailand who love intimate community but also
want a connection with something bigger than themselves. So our events fall
into many categories and sizes.
The main rhythms of NewSong Bangkok are our small and midsize gatherings
which occur almost every day and week all over the city. This includes ‘Verge'
- our weekly mid-size gathering. ‘underGROUND'and ‘Hotspot' which are smaller and
more informal groups. These give people a chance to party in an intimate
setting.
N.O.W(Night of Worship) and ABOVEground are our big ‘CELEBRATION'
gathering which also happen every few months. It's an opportunity to reunite
all of our NewSong Bangkok family as they come together to worship and party!
The Verge is our mid size gathering that meets every week. A verge is any where from about 20 - 99 people. Its the conVERGEnce of the small and the large. We believe that in the mid size we get the synergy of the large but also the intimacy of the small group setting.
underGROUND are small and informal groups that meet in more intimate
communities regionally in different locations. They are focused upon healthy
relationships with God and others. It is a size that makes people feel they are
part of a family. Our hope is to have an underGROUND in every community in
Bangkok.
At newsong we believe in cWoW (Church without Walls), we believe that Church can happen any place at any time. Church is not limited to one singular building or a 2 hour block on a Sunday morning. HotSpot is where the people are: i.e. Coffee Shops, Restaurants, a pub, a basketball court, the mall, the streets of Bangkok.
N.O.W stands for Night of Worship. Nights of Worship were started to respond to the growing need for our extended community to come together. Our Verges meet on a regular basis, however, N.O.W are more seasonal; once every 2-3 month on average. It's a time when all the different Verges come together to be refreshed, refueled, and recharged!
ABOVEground is a large gathering of all the VERGES and small groups every once in a while.
Not desiring to be simply event driven we felt this would be a healthy rhythm for all of us to get together to encoruage, worship God and mentor one another. The energy level is high as this is like a BIG family reunion!
